Kieron Pollard has been a stalwart for Mumbai Indians, having played a massive role in making franchise most successful around the world.

MI London have picked Kieron Pollard as their Head Coach for the upcoming Men’s Hundred campaign. This move brings the West Indian star even closer to the Mumbai Indians (MI) family. The appointment follows the rebranding of the Oval Invincibles.

Reliance Industries recently bought a 49 per cent stake in the team and teamed up with Surrey County Cricket Club. Pollard now steps into the role to take over from Tom Moody. During his time as coach, Moody led the Invincibles to two titles in a row.

The move shows the owners are serious about bringing their “One Family” culture into this new project. Fans at the Kia Oval will see a leader who knows exactly what it takes to win in high-pressure franchise cricket. This job adds to Pollard’s growing coaching resume.

Pollard previously worked with England’s T20 side during their World Cup run. The Invincibles already have a habit of winning, and the 37-year-old joins a squad full of talent. The owners want him to keep the team at the top. He also needs to bring in the specific game plan that Mumbai use for all their teams around the world.

Pollard’s bond with the MI setup is one of the longest-lasting partnerships in the game today. He first put on the Blue and Gold back in 2010. Over 13 years playing in the IPL, he became the face of the franchise. The all-rounder’s performances on the field helped win five IPL titles. He frequently dragged the team out of trouble with big hits and clever medium-pace bowling.

His impact goes far beyond just the IPL. The Caribbean star captained MI New York to the first-ever Major League Cricket title in 2023. A year later, he led MI Emirates to a win in the ILT20. These victories showed that his mind for the game is just as strong as his power.

Even after he stopped playing in the IPL, he stayed in the dugout as the batting coach to help the next group of big hitters. Moving up to Head Coach at MI London is a natural next step for someone who lives and breathes the franchise’s competitive drive. The West Indian legend is now in a league of his own, having won as a player, captain, and mentor on different continents under the same owners.
