Michael Vaughan drew flak from Indian cricketing fraternity following his Guyana pitch claim.
India senior off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin and former cricketers Wasim Jaffer and Harbhajan Singh brutally trolled former England player Michael Vaughan after India thrashed defending champions England by 68 runs in the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 semi-final 2 in Guyana on June 28.
After being asked to bat first on a slow Guyana surface, Indian skipper Rohit Sharma once again showcased his class by smashing another crucial half-century. Rohit was nicely supported by world No. 2 T20I batter Suryakumar Yadav, who scored 47 runs as India reached a fighting total of 171/7 in 20 overs.
While defending 172, Indian bowlers crushed England’s batting line-up as the defending champions were all-out for 103 runs, and the Men in Blue won the match by 68 runs. None of the England batters reached the 30-run mark.
With the ball, the India spin duo of Axar Patel and Kuldeep Yadav bagged three wickets each, whereas Jasprit Bumrah scalped two wickets. The Men in Blue also took revenge of the T20 World Cup 2022 semi-final loss, which they lost to England by 10 wickets in Adelaide oval.
The Rohit-led India will face Aiden Markram-led South Africa in the grand finale of the T20 World Cup 2024 in Barbados on June 29.
Ashwin, Jaffer and Harbhajan troll Michael Vaughan
After India defeated England in the second semi-final of the ongoing T20 World Cup 2024, former England cricketer Michael Vaughan made a comment where he said it was so hard for England to play on this slow-spinning pitch.
“India throughly deserve to be in the final .. The best team in tournament so far .. Was always going to hard for England on this pitch .. India just so much better on lower slower spinning pitches .. #T20IWorldCup,” Vaughan wrote on X (Formerly Twitter).
Reacting to this Vaughan’s statement, India veteran player Ravichandran Ashwin mocked him with a math equation and then wrote, ‘hence, India won.’
Ravichandran Ashwin reply to Vaughan:
Former India cricketer Jaffer also didn’t hold back as he mocked Vaughan with a funny video on his social media handle ‘X’ (formerly Twitter). Jaffer wrote, ‘Hope you’re ok, @MichaelVaughan #INDvENG #T20WoldCup.’
Wasim Jaffer reply to former England cricketer Vaughan:
Move on and keep your rubbish to yourself: Harbhajan replies on Vaughan’s remarks
Legendary off-spinner Harbhajan was in no mood to sit back and digest Vaughan’s remarks after India hammered England in order to reach the final of the ongoing T20 World Cup in 2024.
The former England cricketer said that if the Jos Buttler-led side had defeated South Africa, they would have won the Trinidad semi, and Vaughan believed that England would have won the game.
“If England had beaten SA they would have got the Trinidad semi and I believe they would have won that game .. So no complaints they haven’t been good enough .. But Guyana has been a lovely venue pick for India,” Vaughan had posted on X (formerly Twitter).
In reply, Harbhajan said: “What makes u think Guyana was a good venue for India ? Both Teams played on the same venue . England won the toss that was an advantage . Stop being silly . England was outplayed by India in all departments. Accept the fact and Move on and keep ur rubbish with urself. Talk logic not Nonsense.”
