Mitchell Santner suffered a shoulder injury during Mumbai Indians’ last clash against Chennai Super Kings in IPL 2026.
Mumbai Indians (MI) have completely failed to make a mark in Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026. Out of seven games, they have won just two games and lost five. With four points, they languish in the ninth spot in the points table.
The Hardik Pandya & Co. made a winning start against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) but later lost four games in a row. Their key batters and bowlers have failed to come up with a brilliant show from the start of IPL 2026.
MI later won by a huge margin of 99 runs against Gujarat Titans but faced a big defeat in the previous clash against Chennai Super Kings (CSK). Piling up a mammoth 207/6 in the first innings on back of Sanju Samson’s century, CSK bowled out MI for just 103 runs.
Mitchell Santner ruled out of IPL 2026 due to a shoulder injury
Amid their struggles, MI have suffered a big blow in IPL 2026 as their star all-rounder Mitchell Santner has been ruled out of the entire tournament. He sustained a shoulder injury during the last game against Chennai Super Kings.
He was injured while attempting a catch and left the field. He was seen in the dugout with a bandage on his shoulder. Santner has been replaced by South Africa spin all-rounder Keshav Maharaj. Mumbai revealed the news in an official statement.
“Mumbai Indians have confirmed the signing of South African left-arm spinner Keshav Maharaj as a replacement for Mitchell Santner, who has been ruled out of IPL 2026, due to the injury he sustained on his left shoulder in the previous match. Mumbai Indians wish Santner a full recovery and look forward to seeing him back in action soon,” the franchise said in an official statement.
Meanwhile, Santner featured in four games in 2026 IPL, scoring 26 runs in two innings, including a highest score of unbeaten 18*. He also clinched five wickets at an economy of 8.92. Earlier, he also missed a game as he was not well.
