Mohammed Shami breaks his silence on rumours of marriage with tennis star Sania Mirza

Indian bowler Mohammed Shami is currently under recovery process at the NCA.

It is not easy to be an Indian cricketer. Apart from the fame and money they gain, they are always criticised and face external pressure due to rumours as well. That’s where India’s pacer Mohammed Shami found himself when some social media trends ignited the news of him getting married to tennis star Sania Mirza. However, the pacer has finally opened up, broken his silence, and responded to all these speculation.

Mohammed Shami has been out of action since November 2023. He was part of the Indian team that played the final of the ODI World Cup 2023 at home. Shami was the leading wicket-taker in the tournament and was impressive in almost every game. Despite staying away from cricket for the last 7-8 months, he was a topic of discussion among the fans, along with Sania Mirza.

Mohammed Shami’s last match for India was the World Cup 2023 final. He finished the tournament with the most wickets, as he took 24 wickets in just seven matches. He underwent knee surgery in February and is on his road to recovery. He was recently seen on a podcast with YouTuber Shubhankar Mishra. The pacer talked about his injury and recovery and also broke silence over rumours involving him and the tennis star.

Notably, Sania Mirza has been in the news after her divorce from Pakistani cricketer Shoaib Malik, who also had his third marriage with a Pakistani actress, Sana Javed. After that, fans were eager to know more about her personal life and started linking with Shami. However, the pacer has ended all these rumours and said, “I urge everyone to be responsible with social media and refrain from spreading such unfounded news.”

The pacer said, “Ajeeb hi hai aur hai kya usme? zabardasti kiya hai par kya karien? Phone kholo toh apna hi photo dikhta hai. Lekin mai ek hi cheez bolna chahunga – Kisiko nehi kheechna chahiye aisa. Main maanta hu memes aapke mazaak ke liye hai lekin kisi ke life se related hote hai. Toh aapko bari soch samajh kar memes banana chahiye. Aaj aap verified page nehi ho, aapka address nehi hai, known nehi ho toh aap bol sakte ho.”

“(It is weird and done purposely for some lame fun. But what can be done? If I open my phone then I could see those memes. But I would only like to say I think that memes are made for fun, but if they are related to someone’s life, then you must think about it and then share such things. These people share from unverified pages and get away by saying anything and everything).”

“Lekin mai ek hi cheez bolna chahunga – agar aap mein dum hai toh verified page se bolke dikhao, fir hum batate hai. Dusre ki taang kheechna bohot aasan hai. Success achieve karo, apna level upar karo. Tab main manunga aap acche insaan hai.” (But I would like to say one thing – if you have the guts to say all these things from a verified page, then I will reply. Try achieving success, help people and upgrade yourself then I will believe that you are a good person),” Shami added.

The pacer made it clear that there is no such news and also slammed the fans who are talking about it. Meanwhile, he has started bowling at the nets and is preparing for his comeback. If everything goes well, we will see Shami back in action when India host Bangladesh for a two-match test series later this year.
