Mohammed Siraj didn’t pick any wicket on the day one of the Lord’s test.

Bazball played under control at Headingley, particularly on the last day when England had to chase down 371 to defeat India in the first test of their five-match series.

At Edgbaston, where India won handily by 336 runs, it didn’t work out for England. Whether it was the surface or England’s sense of helplessness, the batsmen slowed it down to play classic test cricket at the Lord’s in the third test, which was so sluggish that the scoring rate dropped to less than three runs per over.

After lunch, there was a 28-ball streak in which England failed to score a single run. Joe Root and Ollie Pope just played and missed while Mohammed Siraj and Jasprit Bumrah continued running in.

The England batsman was forced to play a quick shot because he wanted to escape the shackles, which led to the confrontation between Root and Siraj in the 31st over. However, due to the bounce, the ball simply passed his outside edge, and the Indian pacer chose to make fun of Bazball.

Siraj wanted to watch Bazball, so he persuaded Root to play it. Mohammad Siraj’s tongue-in-cheek remark for Joe Root was quite interesting.

“Baz, baz, Bazball. Play Bazball. I want to see Bazball.”

In the next overs, Root and Pope found a rhythm and managed to reach tea without any problems. With substitute wicket-keeper Dhruv Jurel hanging onto a spectacular reflex catch and Ravindra Jadeja producing an outside edge in the penultimate session, Pope’s patience eventually ran out. India returned to the match after Jasprit Bumrah quickly dismissed Harry Brook, the top-ranked test batter in the world.

As Joe Root’s undefeated fifty demonstrated, there were runs to be had if the batters got their eye in. The Lord’s track played a little up and down from the beginning, so the batters had to adjust.
