With half-centuries by Sanju Samson (89), Abhishek Sharma (52), and Ishan Kishan (54), India posted a gigantic total of 255/5 in the first innings. Shivam Dube added quickfire 26 runs off eight balls to add crucial runs on the board towards the end.
New Zealand lost the plot in the chase in the first half itself, losing five wickets for 72 runs. Tim Seifert scored a half-century, but key batters like Finn Allen, Rachin Ravindra, Glenn Phillips, and Mark Chapman failed to go big.
With Jasprit Bumrah’s four-wicket haul, India bowled out the Black Caps for 159 runs to win by a big margin. Bumrah was awarded Player of the Match.
