In a nail-biting semi-final 2 of the T20 World Cup 2026, India defeated England by seven runs. The high-scoring encounter took place at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on March 5, where England won the toss and opted to field first.

Sanju Samson (89) and Ishan Kishan (39) gave a blistering start to India, while Shivam Dube added crucial 43 runs. Smacking runs at a run-rate of over 10 from the start, India eventually posted a mountainous total of 253/7 in the first innings.

Chasing the target, England lost three wickets in the power play; however, they continued to score at a high run rate. Jacob Bethell (105) scored a marvellous century to keep the winning hopes alive, but lost his wicket in the final over.

Finishing with 246/7, England lost the clash by a close margin of just 7 runs. Samson was awarded Player of the Match for a blistering knock in this do-or-die match. Now, India will face New Zealand in the final on March 8.
