MS Dhoni breaks world record of most catches by a WK in T20 Cricket
CSK captain and wicket-keeper, MS Dhoni adds another feather to his record books.
MS Dhoni, the 41-year-old captain of the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) rewrote the T20 cricket record book during the IPL 2023 match between CSK and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) which was played at the Chepauk in Chennai on April 21, 2023.
Dhoni smashed the T20 cricket 'world record' as he went on to become the wicket-keeper with the most number of catches in the shortest format of the game, going past the record previously held by South Africa’s Quinton De Kock.
Dhoni and De Kock were tied at the No. 1 spot before the match started, with both taking a total of 207 catches in T20 cricket. After Dhoni grabbed the catch of Aiden Markram on the bowling of Maheesh Theekshana in the match, he went past De Kock to take the numero uno spot solely his own.
Dhoni isn't the only Indian in the top 5. Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) wicket-keeper Dinesh Karthik is only three catches behind Dhoni in the list.

CSK moves ahead to an easy win in Chepauk over SRH
Meanwhile, the Chennai Super Kings moved towards an easy win over SRH in Chennai after MS Dhoni won the toss and chose to bowl first.
The innings got off to a respectable start for SRH despite Harry Brook getting knocked for 18, and after a brief partnership, Abhishek Sharma was dismissed by Jadeja for 34 runs. Rahul Tripathi was also dismissed by Jadeja for a run-a-ball 21.
Then, with Ravindra Jadeja taking 3/22, the CSK spinners put the brakes on the SRH batting. Ultimately, the team led by Aiden Markram scored 134/7 off 20 overs.
In response, CSK got off to a fast start thanks to 87 runs for the first wicket in just 11 overs from Devon Conway and Ruturaj Gaikwad. Unfortunately, Ruturaj ran out for 35 in 30 balls, and Conway kept up the attack at the other end.
In the chase, Devon Conway led the way with an absolutely wonderful inning, despite CSK losing Ruturaj Gaikwad for 35, Ajinkya Rahane, and Ambati Rayudu for 9 each.
