MS Dhoni led India to the 2011 ODI World Cup win the last time they hosted the tournament.

On Tuesday, the International Cricket Council (ICC) announced the schedule for the upcoming Cricket World Cup 2023, which is all set to take place in India between October and November. Team India won the last edition in 2011, when India hosted the tournament, and it was the captain MS Dhoni who led the team to glory at home. Thus, it will be a big chance for the Indians to end their trophy drought, which is growing bigger after every ICC tournament.

The upcoming World Cup 2023 will see a total of ten teams take part in the tournament. Eight teams have been finalized, while two teams will qualify through the ongoing ICC CWC Qualifier 2023 in Zimbabwe. England and New Zealand, who played in the final of the 2019 edition, will face off against each other in the first game of the tournament on October 5 at the Narendra Modi Stadium. India will open their campaign on October 8 against Australia in Chennai.

Virender Sehwag reveals the superstitious tale of MS Dhoni during India's 2011 World Cup-winning campaign.

In a recent interaction on Star Sports, former Indian opener Virender Sehwag revealed some superstitions of the Indian players, including skipper MS Dhoni, during their 2011 World Cup win. He revealed that India's then skipper MS Dhoni used to eat only "khichdi" during the entire tournament as a superstition. He also said that not only Dhoni, other players were also involved in some other superstition.

Sehwag said, "Everyone was having some or the other superstition, and everyone was following theirs. MS Dhoni had a superstition of having 'khichdi' all through the World Cup. He used to say that even if I'm not scoring runs but this superstition is working, and we're winning matches."

MS Dhoni was struggling throughout the competition but he made a comeback with his match-winning innings in the final against Sri Lanka, when he came and scored 91 not out from 79 balls to lead India to their second World Cup title. However, despite Dhoni's form, India were winning the games. The Men in Blue will hope that they can replicate the performance they had in 2011 and get their hands on the ICC title. India will face arch-rivals Pakistan on October 15 at the Narendra Modi Stadium.
