Mukesh Kumar reveals MS Dhoni's advice which changed his game

Mukesh Kumar played a crucial role in Bengal's campaign in previous Ranji Trophy season.

India will be taking on the West Indies with a young pace attack as Mohammed Shami is rested and two of the mainstays Umesh Yadav and Jasprit Bumrah are injured. In the 16-member squad for the West Indies tour, Mohammed Siraj, Shardul Thakur, Navdeep Saini and 29-year-old pacer from Bengal Mukesh Kumar have been given the responsibility of pace attack. Mukesh Kumar played in the IPL 2023 for Delhi Capitals and has been rewarded for his performance in the red-ball format in the Indian domestic circuit. Mukesh Kumar recently had a chat with the Times of India and talked about the guidance he got from MS Dhoni.

Mukesh Kumar revealed the chat he had with Chennai Super Kings skipper MS Dhoni and said, “I always wanted to meet Dhoni bhaiya and ask him a couple of things. This happened because of the IPL. I met him and the first thing I asked him was, "What exactly does he tell his bowlers as captain? He (MS Dhoni) put his hand around my shoulders and said ‘I tell this to every bowler that till the time you won’t try, you won’t learn’. He said you need to do exactly what you want to do. If you won’t, you will not learn’. He said forget the outcome, and just go and try. He explained this thing really well to me”. 

Right-arm pacer Mukesh Kumar picked up 7 wickets in 10 games in the IPL 2023. Mukesh has played 39 first-class matches for Bengal and picked up 149 wickets. Kumar has been a magnificent bowler for Bengal and played a crucial role in Bengal’s campaign in the previous Ranji season. Bengal played in the final against Saurashtra but lost the match. India will be playing the first test of the West Indies series at Windsor Park in Dominica on 12th July. India will play 2 test matches in the tour.
