Mumbai Indians will conduct a review meeting for IPL 2026 performance next week.
Mumbai Indians (MI) thoroughly struggled in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026, failing to make it to the playoffs. Hardik Pandya & Co. lost games on trot in the first half after winning their opening game.
They ended the tournament with just four victories out of 14 games and finished at the ninth spot in the points table. They were eliminated from the tournament even before their last game of the league stage.
Captain Hardik Pandya, who took the leadership of the side ahead of IPL 2024, is expected to part ways with the franchise ahead of next season. Moreover, the MI management is expected to make many changes in their squad ahead of the IPL 2027.
As per a report by Sahil Malhotra of The Times of India (TOI), the franchise will conduct a review meeting regarding their IPL 2026 performance next week. During the meeting, discussions and decisions regarding player trades, captaincy, support staff changes, and leadership for IPL 2027 will held.

The report also states that pacer Jasprit Bumrah or batter Tilak Varma are expected to be the next captain of Mumbai Indians. They are the front-runners to become the successor of Hardik.
Although MI are yet to officially part ways with Pandya, his ouster from the squad is almost confirmed, as even he is not interested in leading the team once again, as per earlier reports.
Moreover, vice-captain Suryakumar Yadav also had a fallout with MI after the tournament, deleting their posts from his Instagram account. His social media activity implies that he is also expected to depart from the MI squad ahead of next season.
Meanwhile, Bumrah has been part of the MI since his debut and has played a big role in their title-winning campaigns across five seasons. In IPL 2026, he struggled to come up with an impressive show, clinching just four wickets in 13 games at an economy of 8.36.
Tilak has been a consistent performer over the last few seasons. This year, the left-handed batter piled up 359 runs in 14 games at a strike rate of 145.93, including a century and two fifties.
