Mushfiqur Rahim is the first Bangladesh player to play 100 tests.

Bangladesh Cricket Team wicket-keeper batter Mushfiqur Rahim has clinched a rare record in his kitty after smacking a century in the ongoing second test against Ireland Cricket Team on Thursday, November 20. With a century in the encounter on day 2, he has become the 11th batsman to score a ton in 100th test of career.

On Wednesday, Rahim scripted history by becoming the first Bangladesh player to play 100 tests. Ahead of the match, he was felicitated for his achievement and presented a special memento, featuring a jersey with the names of players who were part of the game.

The senior batter embraced his historic game with a marvellous batting show, hitting Irish bowlers all over the park. Smacking 106 runs off 214 deliveries, he grabbed a lot of limelight at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Dhaka. Along with Litton Das (128), he helped the side cross the 450-run mark after they won the toss and opted to bat first.

With his century in the encounter, Rahim has registered his name in the history books, becoming the 11th batter to score a ton in career’s 100th test. He has joined the likes of legendary batters like Javed Miandad, Inzaman-ul-Haq, Ricky Ponting, and Hashim Amla, among others for the record, with Ponting being the only one to score twin centuries in his 100th test.

Joe Root and David Warner are the only two batters to hammer double tons in their 100th test. Below is the list of 11 batters to score a century in their 100th test.

Meanwhile, Bangladesh scored 476 in first innings of the game. Other than Rahim and Das, Mehidy Hasan Miraz (47) and Mominul Haque (63) made crucial contributions to the team’s total. The hosts lead the series 1-0 after winning the first test by an innings and 47 runs.
