PM Narendra Modi talks with Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli and Rahul Dravid after T20 WC 2024 win, posts special messages

Narendra Modi posted individual messages for Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and Rahul Dravid after speaking with them on a call.
The Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi posted heart-warming messages for Indian men’s cricket team captain Rohit Sharma, senior batter Virat Kohli and head coach Rahul Dravid after speaking with them on a phone call following India’s triumph at the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 in Barbados.
In a last-over thrilling final, India defeated South Africa by seven runs. Kohli bagged the Man of the Match award for his 76 runs off 59 balls, while Jasprit Bumrah was adjudged the Player of the Tournament for picking 15 wickets and maintaining an unbelievable economy of 4.17.
After securing his first T20 world title, Kohli announced his retirement from T20Is. Rohit followed the suit and the 37-year-old who is now a two-time T20 World Cup winner also bid goodbye to the shortest international format.
PM Narendra Modi posts messages for Kohli, Rohit and Dravid
After the Indian camp reached their hotel, they received a call from PM Modi, who spoke with Rohit, Kohli and Dravid. Later, the Prime Minister also posted individual tweets for the trio.
For Rohit, Modi wrote, “Dear @ImRo45, You are excellence personified. Your aggressive mindset, batting and captaincy has given a new dimension to the Indian team. Your T20 career will be remembered fondly. Delighted to have spoken to you earlier today.“
For Kohli, the PM wrote, “Dear @imVkohli, Glad to have spoken to you. Like the innings in the Finals, you have anchored Indian batting splendidly. You’ve shone in all forms of the game. T20 Cricket will miss you but I am confident you’ll continue to motivate the new generation of players.“
For coach Dravid, Modi tweeted, “Rahul Dravid’s incredible coaching journey has shaped the success of Indian cricket. His unwavering dedication, strategic insights and nurturing the right talent have transformed the team. India is grateful to him for his contributions and for inspiring generations. We are happy to see him lift the World Cup. Happy to have congratulated him.“
