New Zealand unveil 1999-inspired retro jersey for ICC T20 World Cup 2024

New Zealand will play their first match of the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 on June 7.

The New Zealand cricket team has unveiled its jersey for the ICC T20 World Cup 2024. The team has opted to bring out a kit inspired from their look from 1999 World Cup. New Zealand will kick-off their ICC T20 World Cup 2024 campaign on June 7 against Afghanistan in Guyana.

New Zealand Cricket (NZC) took it to their official handle on ‘X’ (formerly Twitter), to showcase their iconic jersey, which features the colour scheme of their 1999 kit.

The board didn’t go for their regular black theme kit, which their players wear during international fixtures. The NZC revealed the famous 1999-inspired kit for the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup, with a photo of their star players Mark Chapman, Tim Southee, Fin Allen, Jimmy Neesham, Michael Bracewell and Ish Sodhi in the new kit.

“The team’s kit for the 2024 @T20WorldCup. Available at the NZC store from tomorrow,” NZC tweeted on their ‘X’ handle.

New Zealand name their 15-member squad for ICC T20 World Cup 2024

Earlier today, the NZC announced their initial 15-member squad for the upcoming marquee tournament. The Black Caps have named Kane Williamson as their captiain and also included veteran fast bowlers Tim Southee and Trent Boult in the line-up. Devon Conway also made a return to the squad despite being ruled out of the Indian Premier League 2024 due to a thumb injury.

After a phenomenal ODI World Cup 2023 with the bat, Rachin Ravindra also earned his maiden call-up for the upcoming T20 World Cup as Colin Munro failed to make the Kiwis’ 15-member squad. The 2022 semi-finalists also included young speedster Ben Sears as a travelling reserve.
