The New Zealand tour of Sri Lanka 2024 will start on September 18 in Galle.
The New Zealand cricket team are touring Sri Lanka for the first time since a two-match test series in 2019, which was drawn 1-1. After the Sri Lanka tour, the Kiwis will tour India for a three-match test series.
Before the upcoming Sri Lanka tour, New Zealand were in Greater Noida in India to play a one-off test match against Afghanistan. However, the match was abandoned without toss due to rain and wet outfield.
Meanwhile, Sri Lanka are coming off a 2-1 series loss to England.
The upcoming two-match test series between Sri Lanka and New Zealand is part of the ongoing ICC World Test Championship 2023-25 cycle. The first match will be played from September 18, whereas the second game will start on September 26. Both tests will be played in Galle.
The New Zealand Cricket (NZC) have already announced their squad for the Sri Lanka test series. Veteran speedster Tim Southee will lead the side. The line-up also features experienced players Kane Williamson, Mitchell Santner, Devon Conway and Tom Latham.
On the other hand, veteran cricketer Oshada Fernando marked his return in the Sri Lankan test line-up. The 32-year-old last played a test match against New Zealand in March 2023. Dhananjaya de Silva will continue to lead the Sri Lankan side.
