The players who will be joining the South Zone squad for the Duleep Trophy 2026 final are Devdutt Padikkal, KL Rahul and Mohammed Siraj. As per the reports in PTI, they have been asked by management to play in the summit clash.
All three were part of the Indian team that recently toured Sri Lanka, which is why they were not included in the South Zone squad initially. However, with the series now concluded, they are available to feature in the Duleep Trophy final.
Their inclusion will significantly strengthen the South Zone side ahead of the final. Devdutt Padikkal was named Player of the Series in the recently concluded Test series against Sri Lanka, where he scored centuries in both matches, while KL Rahul has also looked in good touch. Mohammed Siraj, meanwhile, remains a regular starter for the Indian team.
With all three players joining the South Zone squad, they could enter the final as favourites. More importantly, the final will be played at the M. A. Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai, and most of the South Zone players are familiar with the conditions and pitch. In comparison, the East Zone players could find it challenging to adapt to the conditions.
