The Pakistan vs England three-match test series is scheduled to be played from October 7 to October 28.
In a significant development, the upcoming test series between Pakistan and England could be shifted to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) or Sri Lanka.
The England cricket team will be touring Pakistan for a three-match test series in October this year. The opening fixture will be played from October 7 in Multan.
The second test will be hosted in Karachi from October 15. Rawalpindi will host the last match of the test series from October 24.
Pakistan vs England three-match test series might see venue changes
According to a report in The Express Tribune, the three-match test series between Pakistan and England could be moved to either the UAE or Sri Lanka due to construction work going on for the preparation of next year’s ICC Champions Trophy 2025, which is scheduled to be played in Pakistan.
The report added that the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) are looking for alternative venues for this test series. UAE is the PCB’s preferred venue, but because of the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2024, which will be played in Dubai and Sharjah from October 3 to 20, it is tough for the PCB to host the England test series there.
As a result, PCB officials are considering Sri Lanka as a possible venue. The final decision will be made after consultation with the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) in the coming days.
The recently concluded two-match test series between Pakistan and Bangladesh was entirely played in Rawalpindi due to the construction work going on in Karachi, where the second test was originally scheduled to be played.
The construction work is now going on in Rawalpindi along with Karachi and Lahore to get the venues ready on time for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025.
