Papua New Guinea Schedule for ICC T20 World Cup 2024, Fixtures, Dates, Venues

ICC T20 Cricket World Cup 2024 will be the second ICC tournament for Papua New Guinea.

The biggest cricket tournament of 2024 will be played in the USA and West Indies. This will be the ICC T20 World Cup 2024, which will start on June 1. It will be the first time that 20 teams will take part in the tournament, and it will also be the first time that the USA will host this tournament. There will be four different groups with five teams each to start with.

Every group has two top-ranked teams in the shorter formats, like India and Pakistan, who are placed in Group A. However, Group C will have teams like New Zealand, West Indies, Afghanistan, Uganda, and Papua New Guinea. This group is pretty interesting one. Only two teams will make it through the next round from each group. Papua New Guinea will be making their only second appearance in the ICC T20 World Cup after the 2021 edition.

Papua New Guinea will face West Indies in their opening match of the ICC T20 World Cup 2024.

This will be only the second time that Papua New Guinea will feature in an ICC T20 World Cup. They played in the 2021 edition and lost all three matches. But they couldn’t qualify for the 2022 edition in Australia. Now, they made it to the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup 2024, qualifying through the East Asia-Pacific Qualifier. There were four teams, and they won the tournament to become the 15th team to make it to the coming tournament.

Papua New Guinea will be facing West Indies in their opening game on June 2 in Guyana. After a two-day break, they will face Uganda in their second game at the same venue. Their third game is scheduled against Afghanistan on June 13 in Trinidad. The last group match for Papua New Guinea will be against New Zealand in Trinidad on June 17. Though it looks tough for Papua New Guinea to make it to the Super 8, nothing can be said because T20 cricket is a game of uncertainty. So they will look to give it their best shot.
