Pat Cummins will lead Australia for the first time in a home test series against India.

Australia captain Pat Cummins will be looking to “make amends” for the two lost home test series against India in the upcoming Border-Gavakaskar Trophy (BGT) 2024-25. He reminded the fans about the result of the World Test Championship (WTC) final 2023.

Starting November 22, Australia will host India for a high-voltage five-match test series that is part of the ongoing WTC 2023-25 cycle. For the first time since the 1991/92 series, India and Australia will compete in a five-match test series when the Asian giants fly to Australia in November.

India have won the last four test series between these two teams, including twice on the Australian soil. India are the only Asian team ever to register at least one test series win in Australia.

We’ve also had plenty of wins against India: Pat Cummins

Pat Cummins was part of the bowling attack that lost the twin home test series against India. He is now the skipper and will lead his country against India at home for the first time in test cricket.

Cummins captained Australia to the WTC 2023 final victory at The Oval against India. Australia defeated Rohit Sharma-led team by a whopping 209 runs in the WTC final last year.

Speaking with Star Sports, Pat Cummins said, “In the last two series here in Australia we haven’t been successful so it’s been a long time, hopefully, time to make amends. We’ve played them (India) plenty of times where they’ve beaten us, but we’ve also had plenty of wins against them so we’ll draw confidence from that.

“The most recent Test match was obviously the World Test Championship (Final). In neutral conditions and we got up in that Test match so yeah, it’s always fiercely competitive and in a way feels like it’s fifty-fifty. I am 10 out of 10 excited for the Border Gavaskar Trophy,” he added.

The series promises to be an exciting one as both teams have strong bowling units. Among the current ICC test bowlers’ ranking, six of the top seven are either Indian or Australian.

India’s tour of Australia 2024-25 schedule:

November 22-26: 1st test, Perth Stadium, Perth

December 6-10: 2nd test, Adelaide Oval, Adelaide (D/N)

December 14-18: 3rd test, The Gabba, Brisbane

December 26-30: 4th test, MCG, Melbourne

January 3-7: 5th Test, SCG, Sydney
