Australia captain Pat Cummins has revealed his probable date of comeback ahead of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023.

Australian captain Pat Cummins has given a great signal for the upcoming ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 in India. Cummins injured his wrist during the final Ashes 2023 test at The Oval. Pat Cummins also hinted that he could miss out on the five-match ODI series against South Africa later this month. Australia are scheduled to play eight ODIs before their World Cup 2023 campaign, which begins at Chepauk against India on October 8th. They will play a five-match ODI series against South Africa and then a three-match ODI series against India later in September. Cummins, after missing the SA tour, can take part in the ODI series against India.

Pat Cummins said recovering well!

Australian captain Pat Cummins revealed that he will be heading to South Africa after the back-end of the five-match ODI series. Cummins said, “I will head to South Africa at the back end of that leg. But We are probably looking more at those one-dayers (against India) ahead of the World Cup. It should not be too bad. Another few weeks and it (his wrist) will be alright.”

Earlier, Australia announced their preliminary squad to take on South Africa in the five-match ODI series and also to take on India at the end of September for a three-match ODI series as World Cup preparation.

Mitchell Marsh was announced as the leader of the team for the three-match T20I series along with the One-dayers against South Africa. Talking about Marsh’s appointment as leader, who is also in line for a place in the WC squad, Pat Cummins said, “The good thing is that we have a few options. But Marsh is probably the most obvious one if he’s doing the T20Is well. He’s always been a huge member of the team and a real leader. As a captain, that’s what you want a guy that’s going out there, taking the game on, someone we can all get behind.”

Australia dropped Marnus Labuschagne from their ODI plans in the preliminary squad that is set to take on South Africa in an ODI series starting on September 7 in Bloemfontein. Cricket Australia also allowed young Indian-origin leg-spinner Tanveer Sangha into the squad, and he is also in contention for a World Cup place. Cummins’ injury created a few tremors in the Australian camp, but this good news will give them relief with just a few weeks left for the World Cup 2023.
