The absence of these players will be a huge miss for their respective teams in the IPL 2023.

The Indian Premier League is one of the most popular and highly anticipated cricket tournaments in the world. As with any competitive sport, injuries are a common occurrence, and they can have a significant impact on a team's chances of success. With the IPL being a high-stakes and intense tournament, the potential for injuries is even higher. It is crucial for teams to have contingency plans in place to deal with player injuries, including finding suitable replacements and working out the permutations and combinations to maintain a competitive edge.

Over the next two months, the top players will compete for the ultimate reward, but several essential players will be absent either entirely or partially due to fitness concerns.

Here is the list of all those players who are injured and ruled out of IPL 2023.

Jonny Bairstow (Punjab Kings)

Jonny Bairstow, a significant player in England's limited-overs squad for the 2022 summer, has been unable to participate in any competitive cricket since he sustained a freak injury while playing golf last September. Despite being an essential member of England's side, he will be unable to take part in this season's IPL, with Punjab choosing to replace him with Matthew Short.

Short had an impressive performance at the 2022/23 BBL, earning the title of Player of the Tournament. Unfortunately, Bairstow's absence will be a considerable loss for Punjab Kings, and his fans will hope for a speedy recovery and return to the cricket field.

Rishabh Pant (Delhi Capitals)

Delhi has to face the challenge of not having their captain for the IPL 2023. Rishabh Pant will miss the whole season due to a car accident he suffered in December 2022, and his absence will extend even beyond the IPL. In response to this, the Delhi team has appointed David Warner as their captain. Pant's absence will be a significant blow to the team as he is an exceptional player and a crucial leader.

Unfortunately, this incident highlights the importance of safety and reminds everyone to prioritize it while driving to avoid accidents that can result in significant consequences. Abhishek Porel has been announced as his replacement.

Shreyas Iyer (Kolkata Knight Riders)

Shreyas Iyer, the Indian cricketer, missed the first Test match against Australia due to a back injury, but he managed to participate in the following three matches. However, he was forced to sit out of the ODI series that ensued, and now he has been advised to undergo surgery.

The Indian batsman will now undergo back surgery and is expected to be out of the action for 5-6 months, including the IPL 2023 and WTC final in England. The KKR skipper will need at least 3-4 months of rest post surgery to begin training.

As a result, his IPL team, Kolkata Knight Riders have announced Nitish Rana as a replacement captain. We wish Iyer a speedy recovery and hope to see him back in action soon. KKR are yet to name a replacement player for him.

Prasidh Krishna (Rajasthan Royals)

Prasidh Krishna's outstanding ODI career came to an abrupt halt when he was diagnosed with a lumbar stress fracture in August 2022. This injury has kept him out of action since then, and unfortunately, he will not be participating in any cricket matches during the entirety of the 2023 IPL season.

Rajasthan Royals, his IPL team, will surely miss him dearly as he was one of their most effective players last season. In fact, he finished as the team's second-highest wicket-taker, behind only Yuzvendra Chahal, who won the Purple Cap award. We hope Prasidh recovers quickly and returns to the cricket field soon. Sandeep Sharma has been selected as the replacement for Prasidh Krishna.

Mohsin Khan (Lucknow Super Giants) - Not full season

Mohsin Khan, an uncapped left-arm seamer, had an impressive debut season in the IPL 2022, where he finished as the second-most economical bowler. However, his success was short-lived as he had to undergo surgery in 2022 to remove blood clots from his left shoulder.

Since then, he has not played in any significant cricket matches. Although he has been practicing his bowling skills in the nets, it may take some time before he can start bowling again. It is unfortunate for Mohsin, who showed great promise in his debut season, but we hope he can recover fully and make a strong comeback in the future.

Mukesh Choudhary (Chennai Super Kings)

Mukesh Choudhary emerged as a promising player in the 2022 season of IPL, where he took 16 wickets at an average of 26.50, making him one of the standout players for Chennai.

However, his success was short-lived when he suffered a back injury that required him to undergo rehabilitation at the National Cricket Academy. Mukesh has been ruled out of the IPL and Akash Singh has been named his replacement in the CSK squad.

Jasprit Bumrah (Mumbai Indians)

Due to his prolonged injury lay-off, Jasprit Bumrah will not be playing in this season's IPL, which is a significant setback for Mumbai Indians. Bumrah is known for his exceptional bowling skills and is considered one of the team's most crucial players.

Although Mumbai signed Jofra Archer at the 2022 IPL auction with high expectations of the deadly partnership he could form with Bumrah, Archer missed the 2022 season due to various reasons. While Archer is now back in action, the team will still sorely miss Bumrah's contributions this season. Sandeep Warrier has been announced as his replacement.

Jhye Richardson (Mumbai Indians)

Mumbai Indians are set to face another setback as they will be missing another fast bowler this season. Jhye Richardson, who underwent shoulder surgery in 2019, has been out of action for some time. Adding to this, he also had to undergo hamstring surgery earlier this month, making it unlikely for him to feature in this IPL season and possibly beyond.

Kyle Jamieson (Chennai Super Kings)

Chennai Super Kings' recent acquisition, Kyle Jamieson, is set to miss this IPL season due to a stress fracture in his back that requires surgery. This comes as a significant setback for the team, who had acquired the player for INR 1 crore at the auction.

However, Chennai has acted quickly and brought in Sisanda Magala, a fast bowler from South Africa known for his abilities in both the powerplay and at the death overs.

Will Jacks (Royal Challengers Bangalore)

Despite being one of the top purchases for Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) at the auction, Will Jacks will not be playing in this season's IPL. The talented all-rounder, known for his ability to strike at 158 in Twenty20 cricket, sustained an injury during England's tour of Bangladesh, forcing him to withdraw from the tournament.

In his absence, RCB has opted to replace him with Michael Bracewell, a seasoned Kiwi player with a wealth of experience in the shorter format of the game. It remains to be seen if Bracewell can make an impact and fill the void left by Jacks in the RCB lineup.

Rajat Patidar (Royal Challengers Bangalore)

Rajat Patidar, the promising cricketer who rose to fame as a mid-season replacement in IPL 2022, will not be playing in the entire IPL 2023 due to a heel injury. Patidar finished IPL 2022 with an impressive 333 runs at a strike rate of 153, including a century in the IPL 2022 eliminator clash against LSG. RCB are yet to name a replacement for him.

Josh Hazelwood (Royal Challengers Bangalore) - Not full season

Josh Hazlewood, who was bought by his team for INR 7.75 crore in the previous year's mega-auction, is unlikely to participate in the IPL 2023 due to his continued recovery from Achilles tendonitis. This injury prevented him from playing in any of the four Test matches against India in February and March, and he also missed the three-match ODI series. The seriousness of the issue has raised doubts about his participation in the entire tournament.

Kane Williamson (Gujarat Titans)

After winning the first match of IPL 2023 on Friday, the Gujarat Titans faced a setback on Sunday as one of their crucial batsmen, Kane Williamson was sidelined for the remainder of the season due to a knee injury he sustained during the game against the Chennai Super Kings. He was bought by Gujarat Titans in 2022 IPL mini-auction. The franchise have roped in Sri Lankan all-rounder Dasun Shanaka as his replacement.

Raj Angad Bawa (Punjab Kings)

Punjab Kings has faced a setback as their all rounder Raj Angad Bawa won't be able to participate in the current edition of the tournament due to left shoulder injury. Although Bawa played for Punjab in two matches last season, he will not be able to play for Punjab this time.

In the wake of Bawa's injury, Punjab Kings have made an announcement about his replacement, Gurnoor Singh Brar, who was acquired for INR 20 lakh. Gurnoor is a left-handed batting all-rounder and recently made his debut in first-class cricket during the 2022-23 season for Punjab.
