Zimbabwe’s 23-run win over Australia was the highlight of Day 7.

Day 7 of the ICC T20 World Cup 2026 has ended, and it was another action-packed day of cricket. It started with one of the biggest upsets in T20 World Cup history when Zimbabwe beat the 2021 champions, Australia, by 23 runs at R. Premadasa Stadium.

Zimbabwe batted first and scored 169/2, with Brian Bennett scoring 64* off 56. Australia failed to adapt to the situation and were bowled out for just 146 runs. Blessing Muzarabani (4/17) and Brad Evans (3/23) were stars with the ball.

The second game of the day was played between Canada and the UAE, and it was a close-fought contest. The result came in the last over of the game, where UAE edged past Canada by five wickets while chasing 151 runs.

Junaid Siddique recorded one of the best figures of 5/35 in T20 World Cup history. The final game of the day was played between two Group A teams, the USA and the Netherlands, in Chennai.

After two consecutive defeats, the USA managed to win a game. Saiteja Mukkamalla’s 79 off 51 balls helped the USA reach a big total of 196/6. With the ball, the USA were brilliant as they bowled the Netherlands out for 103 runs, beating them by 93 runs to record their first win in the ongoing tournament.

Group A

In match 21, the Netherlands and the USA faced each other in Group A. With a win, the USA moved to third spot with two points. India are at the top of the points table with four points, followed by Pakistan with four points. The Netherlands slipped to fourth spot, whereas Namibia are at the bottom with no points.

Group B

After a win over Australia, Zimbabwe moved to second spot, below Sri Lanka. These sides have four points each. With two points, Australia slipped to third spot in the points table. Ireland and Oman are next on the list with zero points.

Group C

There was no game played in Group C. So, the West Indies are at the top of the points table with four points. Scotland, Italy, and England are next on the list with two points each. With no points, Nepal are at the bottom of the table.

Group D

In Match 20, UAE defeated Canada to earn two points, moving them to third place in the points table. New Zealand and South Africa are placed first and second with four points each. Afghanistan and Canada are fourth and fifth with no wins on the board.

T20 World Cup 2026: Most runs

Tim Seifert is still at the top with 154 runs in two games. Shubham Ranjane scored 48* off 24 against the Dutch and moved to second spot with 136 runs. Bas de Leede is third with 125 runs in three innings. Pakistan’s Sahibzada Farhan and Sri Lanka’s Kusal Mendis are next on the list.

After two four-wicket hauls, Shadley van Schalkwyk took three wickets in the third game. With 11 wickets, he has the most wickets this edition.

Blessing Muzarabani has climbed to the second spot with a four-wicket haul against Australia. Lungi Ngidi and Harmeet Singh have seven wickets each. Brad Evans is fifth on the list with six wickets.
