Another exciting day in the ICC T20 World Cup 2026 has ended, and there were plenty of memorable moments recorded on Day 8. The day began with a record total by Ireland against Oman in Colombo. Batting first, Ireland scored 235/5, with captain Lorcan Tucker scoring 94* off 51.

Oman had a good start, but they kept losing wickets and were bowled out for 139 runs, losing by a massive 96 runs. It helped Ireland win their first game of the T20 World Cup 2026. The second game of Day 8 was a one-sided game for England.

They thrashed Scotland by five wickets, chasing 153 runs. Adil Rashid was once again a game-changer with his 3/36, and Tom Banton’s unbeaten 63 off 41 made sure England won their second game. The final game of the day was expected to be a thriller between New Zealand and South Africa in Group D.
But South Africa hammered New Zealand by seven wickets. Marco Jansen took 4/40 and won the Player of the Match award. Captain Aiden Markram slammed a 19-ball fifty and scored an unbeaten 86 off 44 balls, and South Africa have officially qualified for the Super 8.

There was no action in Group A on Day 8. So, the standings remain similar. India and Pakistan are first and second with four points each. The USA and the Netherlands are next with two points each. Namibia don’t have any points, and they are at the bottom.
