The saga of triple headers continued in the T20 World Cup 2026 on February 17 too, where Canada clashed with New Zealand in the first game at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.

With a century by Yuvraj Samra (110), Canada posted 173/4 in the first innings. However, New Zealand chased down the total by eight wickets, with half-centuries by Rachin Ravindra (59) and Glenn Phillips (76).

The afternoon clash between Zimbabwe and Ireland was washed out due to rain, paving the way for Zimbabwe to qualify for the Super 8 from Group B alongside Sri Lanka.

In the dead-rubber Group C clash in the evening, Nepal crushed Scotland to register their first victory in the T20 World Cup 2026. Dipendra Singh Airee (50*) rocked with his batting heroics, bringing the team home in the 171-run chase by seven wickets.

Group A

India are placed in the top spot in the Group A points table with six points, followed by the USA and Pakistan with four points each. The Netherlands and Namibia are next with two and 0 points respectively. Only India have qualified for Super 8 so far.

Group B

Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe grab the top two spots in the Group B points table, with six and five points respectively. They have also booked a berth in the Super 8. Ireland and Australia are next in line with three and two points, followed by Oman with 0 points.

West Indies and England are at the top of the Group C points table with six points, followed by Scotland, Italy, and Nepal with two points each. West Indies and England have sealed a spot in the Super 8 from this pool.

Group D

With six points each, South Africa and New Zealand enjoy the top spot in the Group D points table and have also qualified for the Super Eight stage. Afghanistan and the UAE, having two points each, have been eliminated from the tournament. Canada have 0 points and languish in the last spot.
