South Africa defeated India in their first Super 8 match.

Two games took place in the T20 World Cup 2026 on Sunday, February 22, where both Asian teams faced big defeats despite having the home advantage. In the afternoon game, England crushed Sri Lanka by 51 runs to start their stint in the Super 8 round on a winning note.

Harry Brook & Co. piled up 146/9 in the first innings at a bowling-friendly wicket at Pallekele International Cricket Stadium in Pallekele. Phil Salt gave a phenomenal start with his half-century, but other batters failed to follow up.

In the evening clash, the Indian Cricket Team suffered a humiliating defeat against South Africa in the T20 World Cup 2026. The IND vs SA game took place at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, where Aiden Markram & Co. outplayed the Men-in-Blue by 76 runs.

After electing to bat first, South Africa lost the top three batters- Markram, Quinton de Kock, and Ryan Rickelton- for single digits. However, David Miller (63), Dewald Brewis (45), and Tristan Stubbs (44*) took the scoreboard to a powerful total of 187/7.

Arshdeep Singh (2 wickets) and Jasprit Bumrah (3 wickets) helped restrict the Proteas from posting a big total, but their efforts went in vain as the Indian batsmen put up a shoddy performance in the chase. India struggled against the Proteas’ formidable bowling attack, with key batsmen getting dismissed for low scores.

Shivam Dube (42) was the top scorer for India, who were eventually bundled out for just 111 runs in 18.5 overs. No Indian batsman could even score a half-century. Miller was awarded Player of the Match for his crucial job with the bat.
