South Africa beat Australia in the final of the ICC WTC 2023-25.
The South Africa Cricket Team, under the leadership of Temba Bavuma, displayed a magnificent brand of cricket in the final of the ICC World Test Championship (WTC) 2023-25. They defeated Australian Cricket Team by five wickets at the Lord’s Cricket Ground in London.
In what was the first ICC title win in 27 years, South Africa finished the game in four days and lifted the test mace. They had a brilliant start to the game as after winning the toss, the Proteas bundled out the opposition for just 212 runs with Kagiso Rabada taking a fifer.
With the bat, in the first innings, they didn’t look sharp as they lost wickets under pressure and were all out for 138 as Australia took a massive lead of 74 runs. But the Temba Bavuma-led side staged a dominating comeback in the second innings, first with the ball and then with the bat.
The pacers yet again displayed their class and ended Australia’s innings on 207, setting themselves a target of 282 to chase. While many backed the Pat Cummins-led side to win the title, Aiden Markram wrote his own script as he blazed a sensational ton under pressure to make sure that his team won.
Aiden Markram slammed 136 runs and batted till the end, which helped South Africa put one step past the finishing line. He got great support from skipper Temba Bavuma, who was battling a hamstring injury. The captain slammed 66 runs as their 147-run partnership helped the Proteas to win the game by five wickets.
