WPL 2026: Qualification scenarios of all teams explained

Royal Challengers Bengaluru Women grab the top spot in the WPL 2026 points table.

The Women’s Premier League (WPL 2026), which commenced on January 9, has reached its halfway mark. Out of the total 22 games, 11 have taken place so far. Each of the five teams has already played at least four games out of their total eight matches of the league stage.

According to the WPL 2026 format, every team will play eight matches in the first round, two games against each of the other four opposition teams. The top three teams in the points table after the conclusion of the league stage will qualify for the playoffs, while the remaining two will be eliminated.

Moreover, the top team in the points table will directly qualify for the final, while the second and third-placed teams will square off in the Eliminator. The winner of the game will be the second finalist of the league.

So far, RCB Women are the most successful team and enjoy the peak position in the points table, while Delhi Capitals (DC) Women languish at the last spot. Below is a detailed glance at the qualification scenarios of all teams in WPL 2026 after the 11th match.

Qualification scenarios of all teams for the playoffs-

RCB Women

RCB Women have won four games out of four so far, and take the top spot in the points table with eight points. They will play four more matches in the tournament. If they win their next two games against Gujarat Giants and Delhi Capitals, they will secure a place in the playoffs.

Furthermore, if they win three out of their next four matches, they will secure the top spot and qualify directly for the final.

If Smriti Mandhana & Co. suffer defeat in all of their next four matches, they can move into the playoffs. However, their qualification will then depend on the results of other teams in such a scenario.

To Qualify: Win their next two games

MI Women secured the second spot in the points table with two wins and three defeats out of five matches. They have four points and three more games left in the league stage. If the defending champions win all of their next three encounters, they will book a berth in the playoffs.

Two victories might be enough, but the Net Run Rate (NNR) will play a big role. If Harmanpreet Kaur and co. win only one of their next three matches, they will have a very slim chance of qualifying for the playoffs. In that scenario, they will have to depend on the results of other teams.

With two victories and an equal number of defeats across four matches, GG Women grab the third spot in the WPL 2026 points table with four points. If they win three out of the remaining four matches, they will earn a spot in the playoffs.

If they win their next match against RCB Women, their chances of finishing in the top three will be 81 percent. However, they could still be eliminated based on net run rate.

If they lose against RCB Women but win their next matches against UP and DC Women, they will be tied on points for third place.

To qualify: Win their next three games

Since UP Warriorz have also won two matches and lost three out of five, like MI Women, they have the same qualification scenario for the playoffs as the defending champions. Therefore, they will move into the top three if they win their next three games.

Since Meg Lanning & Co. will play the last match of the group stage, they have a slight advantage as they would know the exact net run rate needed to move into the top three.

To qualify: Win their next three matches

Delhi Capitals Women

The DC Women have been the worst performers in the ongoing season so far, winning just one game out of four and losing three. They struggle at the last spot in the points table and have very slim chances of making it to the playoffs.

If Jemimah Rodrigues & Co. win the rest of their next four matches and the two upper teams lose a few matches, they might qualify for the playoffs. However, they can still be eliminated from the points table because of their worst NRR (-0.856).

To qualify: Win their next four remaining matches (Depending on other teams’ results too)
