Rahul Dravid’s tenure as India head coach came to an end with today’s game.

After defeating the Aiden Markram-led South Africa by seven runs in the grand finale of the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 in Barbados on June 29, Indian cricket team head coach Rahul Dravid celebrated aggressively with the trophy along with the other players.

It was a historic night for Indian cricket as they ended a long 11-year wait for an ICC title. However, it was a more emotional moment for India’s head coach Dravid, for whom it was the final assignment with the national side.

Dravid had already confirmed that he wouldn’t re-apply for the head coach role as his contract was to expire at the end of this tournament.

Under Dravid, the Indian side played the World Test Championship 2021–23 final and the ODI World Cup 2023 final but suffered heartbreaking defeats at the hands of Australia on both occasions.

However, the Men in Blue clinched the Asia Cup 2023 title, which was the only major white-ball trophy won under Dravid’s tenure until the T20 World Cup 2024 title. India also won two home Test series against Australia and England during Dravid’s coaching tenure.

Rahul Dravid shows raw emotions while celebrating with the T20 World Cup 2024 trophy

Dravid, who is known for his calmness and as someone who doesn’t show much emotions, showed his new colours when he celebrated animatedly with the T20 World Cup 2024 trophy with the Indian cricket team.

Dravid was standing behind when the team was celebrating but a few indian players brought him in the middle. Indian opener and Player of the Final award winner Virat Kohli handed the trophy to Dravid and the India coach showed his raw emotions at becoming a world champion finally.

Interestingly, Dravid, who captained the Indian side in the 2007 ODI World Cup, had a horrible run when his side were knocked out of the group stage in the West Indies. Finally, after a span of 17 years, Dravid buried those moments after clinching the T20 World Cup 2024 title as the Indian head coach.
