Suresh Raina requests Ajit Agarkar to select this CSK star in India squad for T20 World Cup 2024

India squad for T20 World Cup 2024 will be selected in the coming week.

Former India and Chennai Super Kings’ (CSK) cricketer Suresh Raina has requested BCCI chief selector Ajit Agarkar to include CSK’s big-hitting Shivam Dube in the Indian squad for the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup 2024. The ICC event will be played in the West Indies and the USA in June.

Shivam Dube has been a changed batter since joining the CSK at the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 auction. Dube had floundered in franchises like Rajasthan Royals and Royal Challengers Bengaluru before finding backing and a strong base in CSK.

He went on to score 289 runs in IPL 2022 for CSK with a strike rate of 156.22 and two fifties. In the IPL 2023, which CSK won, Dube contributed 418 runs with a strike rate of 158.33 and three fifties.

Even in the ongoing IPL 2024, Dube has been excellent with the bat, with 311 runs in 8 matches for the franchise at a strike rate of 169.95. He hit 35 sixes in IPL 2023 and to date, has hit 22 sixes in 8 matches in IPL 2024.

In the recent encounter of CSK, where they hosted Lucknow Super Giants in the return encounter in IPL 2024, Shivam Dube ensured that CSK posted an above-par total on their home ground.

CSK had lost Ajinkya Rahane for one run, then Daryl Mitchell returned to the hut for 11 runs, and Ravindra Jadeja got out for 16 runs. Shivam Dube joined captain Ruturaj at 101/3 in the 12th over. Ruturaj scored the first century by a CSK skipper and remained 108* with 12 fours and 3 sixes. But it was Shivam Dube, who provided the impetus to innings.

Dube and Ruturaj added 104 runs for the 4th wicket, with the tall Mumbai batter scoring 66 in 27 balls with 3 sixes and 7 towering sixes. His strike rate was 244.44 and he helped CSK post 210/4 in 20 overs.

Seeing this tremendous hitting by Dube, former CSK star Suresh Raina saw World Cup loading for the batter and urged Ajit Agarkar to include him in the Indian team.
