Ravi Shastri heaped praise on KL Rahul for his batting show in test series against England.

Cricketer-turned-commentator Ravi Shastri heaped praise on KL Rahul for his impressive batting show in the ongoing test series between England Cricket Team and Indian Cricket Team. Opener Rahul has been a standout performer for India in the series.

With 375 runs in three games at an average of 62.50, Rahul is the fourth highest run-scorer in the series. The right-handed batsman has already hammered two centuries and one half-century in the series across six innings.

In the third test at the Lord’s, the Indian opener slammed a century in the first innings. His name was added to the Lord’s Honours Board. Notably, it was his second test century at the Lord’s. Rahul has managed to provide good starts to the team with the bat.

While speaking on The ICC Review, former Indian coach Ravi Shastri revealed the technical changes Rahul has made in his batting. He also lauded the Indian opener for his brilliant form in the series.

“I think there was not one person in the world who denied his potential and said that he [Rahul] was not talented. What annoyed people was, with that kind of talent, he was not delivering. And in this series, you’re seeing the best of Rahul,” he said.

“What I am seeing is a slight adjustment he’s made with his front foot, in his stance and while defending. It just opened up a bit, which allows his back to come through cleanly. Even when he’s hitting it towards mid-wicket, it’s the full face of the blade,” he further said.

“He doesn’t need to close the face of the blade, and fall over and get into trouble like he used to in the past. He would get out leg before, would get out bowled, he would get across too far and then be out leg before as well,” Shastri added.

Meanwhile, India are gearing up for fourth test of the series against England. The encounter will start on July 23 at Old Trafford, Manchester. England lead the five-match test series 2-1. In the third game of the series at the Lord’s, the hosts defeated India by 22 runs.

India will be aiming for a comeback in the fourth test as they need to win the encounter to keep their chances of series victory alive. Notably, India have never won a test match against England in Manchester. Out of nine tests at the venue, England won four games while five encounters ended in a draw.
