"Kuldeep Yadav has brought a cool hairstyle,": Ravindra Jadeja on teammate's hairstyle
Kuldeep Yadav and Ravindra Jadeja picked up 7 wickets together in 1st ODI vs WI.
The Indian spin duo of Kuldeep Yadav and Ravindra Jadeja made history on Thursday in the first ODI game between India and West Indies at Kensington Oval in Bridgetown. Both bowlers looked unplayable and combined to take seven wickets in the game. Notably, it was the first instance when two Indian left-arm spin bowlers took seven wickets in an ODI innings. Both helped India register a five-wicket win over the hosts in the first game.
India started the game by winning the toss and bowling first. The Indian pacers bowled on a challenging line and troubled the West Indies top order. Hardik Pandya, Mukesh Kumar, and Shardul Thakur picked up one wicket each. But as Indian captain Rohit Sharma introduced spin in the game, things changed drastically. From 88/3, the hosts were bowled out for just 114 runs in 23 overs. They lost their last seven wickets for just 26 runs.
"We bowled just like a pair should"- Kuldeep Yadav on his bowling partner Ravindra Jadeja
Ravindra Jadeja picked up 3/37, including two wickets in an over. Meanwhile, Kuldeep Yadav ended up with an incredible bowling figures on his comeback. He bowled three overs, including two maidens, and picked up four wickets for just six runs. As a result, he also won the Man of the Match award. After the game, the BCCI posted a video clip featuring both spinners speaking about their performances.
Jadeja was heard speaking about Kuldeep's new hairstyle. He said, "Kuldeep has brought a cool hairstyle with him from India in this warm weather in Barbados. Only long hair can protect you in this heat, if you keep short hair here, your head will burn down." The MOTM performance will help him make a strong case for himself in the white-ball format. Yuzi Chahal is another option that is part of the squad.
However, with Ravindra Jadeja being the first-choice spinner in the team, it will be a choice between Chahal and Kuldeep. Furthermore, the 28-year-old credited the pace bowlers for setting the tone for the spinners. He also said that bowling as a pair with Jadeja helped him a lot and he looks up to him. Kuldeep said, "[To Jadeja] When you came into the attack, you kept taking wickets in a heap and then I came in and took the rest. I think we bowled just like a pair should, we bowled like a good bowling unit." Both teams will lock horns in the second game on Saturday in Barbados.
