Ravindra Jadeja announced his T20I retirement after lifting the ICC T20 World Cup 2024.

Veteran Indian all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja posted a heartfelt ICC T20 World Cup 2024 sketch with his late mother. On June 29, 2024, the Indian cricket team won the T20 World Cup 2024 by defeating South Africa by seven runs in Barbados. Jadeja was part of that title-winning squad.

India ended their 17-year-long wait to lift the ICC T20 title and also ended their 11-year-long ICC trophy drought.

After winning the T20 World Cup 2024, star all-rounder Jadeja pulled the curtains down on his T20I career. The veteran dropped an emotional post and said that the World Cup victory was the ‘pinnacle’ of his career.

“With a heart full of gratitude, I bid farewell to T20 internationals. Like a steadfast horse galloping with pride, I’ve always given my best for my country and will continue to do so in other formats. Winning the T20 World Cup was a dream come true, a pinnacle of my T20 International career. Thank you for the memories, the cheers, and the unwavering support,” Jadeja wrote on his Instagram, while announcing his T20I retirement.

Jadeja pays tribute to late mother

Indian all-rounder Jadeja’s mother passed away back in 2005, when he was just 17-years-old. After announcing his T20I retirement, Jadeja shared a heartwarming Instagram post where he recalled his late mother and paid tribute to her.

Jadeja captioned the post: “Whatever I’m doing on the field.. it’s a tribute to you❤️ #मां.”

Here is the post:

Jadeja represented the Indian cricket team in 74 T20Is. The veteran made his debut back in 2009 against Sri Lanka in Colombo. The left-handed batter amassed 515 runs at an average of 21.45. With the ball, the left-arm spinner picked up 54 runs at an economy of 7.13.

The 35-year-old Jadeja will not be part of India’s T20I squad but will continue to play ODIs and Tests for the national side.
