Royal Challengers Bangalore have included South African all-rounder Wayne Parnell and Vyshak Vijayakumar as a replacements for injured Reece Topley and Rajat Patidar. Bangalore are facing severe injury issues in IPL 2023. Several players have been ruled out for the entire season. RCB are still waiting for an update on Sri Lankan All rounder Wanindu Hasranaga. Reece Topley injured himself against Mumbai Indians while fielding at a deep point. IPL 2022 wonder kid, Rajat Patidar is out of the action due to an Achilles heel injury. Australian Pacer Josh Hazlewood is also out for most part of the IPL 2023.
Wayne Parnell will be making re-entry in IPL
33-year-old South African has been leading the Pretoria Capitals squad in SA20. Parnell has very little experience with the IPL. So far he has played for only two IPL franchises when IPL was just born and taking its shape, Pune Warriors India and Delhi Daredevils. He has played only 26 games in this league. Parnell had a wonderful run of form in SA20. He played 9 games and picked up 10 wickets for his team. Pretoria Capitals were the runners up of SA20 under Wayne Parnell.
RCB bring in a bowler in place of Rajat Patidar
RCB have also inducted Vyshak Vijayakumar, a young Karnataka pacer. Right arm pace bowler from Karnataka, has played 14 T20 games for Karnataka and has picked up 23 wickets. Vijayakumar has come in as a replacement for Rajat Patidar. In place of a formidable Number 3 batter, they have gone for a pace bowler. RCB were stunned by Kolkata Knight Riders on Thursday by a huge margin of 81 runs.
KKR batters, especially Shardul Thakur exploited RCB’s weak link in bowling beautifully. Thakur smashed 68 runs in 29 balls to give a target of 208. RCB under pressure bundled out on 123. They needed someone to hold one end after the initial blows. RCB will be taking on Lucknow Super Giants on 10th April at M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.
