Virat Kohli made history by becoming only the second batsman, after the legendary Sachin Tendulkar, to reach the milestone of 6,000 runs in one-day internationals (ODIs) while playing on home turf. Sachin Tendulkar, the all-time leading ODI run-scorer worldwide, had achieved an scored 6974 runs in one-day cricket on Indian soil, with a remarkable average of 48.11 across 160 innings.

In contrast, Virat Kohli accomplished this feat in just 119 innings, showcasing his exceptional consistency and skills in the ODI format. This achievement firmly established Kohli’s legacy as one of India’s most accomplished and dependable ODI batsmen.

Additionally, he became just the fourth player and the second Indian to reach the 1500-run mark in ODI World Cups. The only two players with more runs in ODI World Cups are the legendary Sachin Tendulkar, who scored 2278 runs in 45 matches, and former Australia captain Ricky Ponting, who accumulated 1743 runs in 46 matches.
