[Watch] Rishabh Pant throws his wicket, gets dismissed by Keshav Maharaj for a duck in ICC T20 World Cup 2024 final

Keshav Maharaj dismissed Rishabh Pant for the third time in T20Is.

Left-arm spinner Keshav Maharaj got lucky as he dismissed Indian wicket-keeper batter Rishabh Pant for a golden duck in the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 final at the Kensington Oval, Bridgetown, Barbados on June 29.

After winning the toss and opting to bat first, Indian opener Virat Kohli hammered three boundaries against South African left-arm seamer Marco Jansen in the first over and provided a good start.

South Africa skipper Aiden Markram brought left-arm spinner Keshav Maharaj into the attack in the next over. On the first delivery, Indian skipper Rohit Sharma got lucky as he got a streaky boundary towards third man.

On the next delivery, Rohit brought his reverse sweep out and earned a boundary. However, the South African spinner Maharaj got his revenge as he removed the Indian skipper on the fourth ball of the over. Rohit played a sweep shot, but it went straight to Heinrich Klaasen at backward square leg.

Maharaj removes Pant for a duck in the T20 World Cup 2024 final

Rohit got out for just nine runs and the Proteas got an early breakthrough. Spinner Maharaj provided another breakthrough as he removed Indian wicket-keeper Pant for a two-ball duck on the last ball of the same over.

The left-handed batter Pant tried to play a sweep shot on a full floaty delivery outside the off stump. Pant just managed to hit the ball from the toe end of the bat, and it lobbed up in the air. Wicket-keeper Quinton de Kock took the catch easily and Pant departed for a duck.

Interestingly, Maharaj has dismissed Pant three times in the three innings they have faced against each other in the T20Is.
