Rishabh Pant made his IPL return in 2024 for Delhi Capitals and scored 446 runs.

Delhi Capitals (DC) are one of the few teams that have been part of the Indian Premier League (IPL) from the very start, but they have not won the title so far. Their only appearance in the final of the tournament’s history was in 2020. DC finished sixth in the IPL 2024 under the leadership of Rishabh Pant. It was the comeback season for the DC captain, who missed the 2023 edition after suffering a car accident.

The Southpaw made a brilliant comeback and was the top scorer for the franchise in the 2024 edition. He finished with 446 runs in 13 innings at an average of 40.54 and a strike rate of 155.40, with three half-centuries. But it looks like Rishabh Pant doesn’t want to continue with the franchise for the next season.

Rishabh Pant is likely to leave Delhi Capitals ahead of the IPL 2025 – Reports

Pant, who is the most-capped player of DC, is likely to leave the franchise ahead of the IPL 2025. The next season will see a mega-auction where all ten franchises can only retain few players, and Pant might look to find a new franchise for himself. According to a report in Dainik Jagran, the DC captain might leave DC and join one of the most successful IPL teams, Chennai Super Kings.

Reports further suggest that the Delhi franchise isn’t too happy with Pant and is considering whether to retain him or not. As per the report, the franchise might trade him, but DC’s Director of Cricket, Sourav Ganguly, isn’t in favour of this. But, if Rishabh Pant leaves DC, then there are chances that he might join CSK and might replace MS Dhoni as wicket-keeper of the side.

Meanwhile, the former CSK captain is yet to retire from the IPL, and if Pant joins the team, he can decide on his career. On the other hand, KL Rahul is another Indian star who is likely to switch teams. His three-year contract with Lucknow Super Giants comes to an end, and after the incident of LSG owner Sanjeev Goenka slamming him on camera came out, he might quit the team.

If he does so, he might join his old franchise Royal Challengers Bengaluru, who are searching for a wicket-keeper after Dinesh Karthik’s retirement. Rahul has already played for RCB between 2013 and 2016 and has already expressed his desire to play for RCB again.
