Rishabh Pant is participating in the Duleep Trophy 2024 tournament.

Indian wicket-keeper batter Rishabh Pant expressed that there is no complacency among the Indian players for their upcoming test series against Bangladesh at home.

The two-match test series will be played in Chennai and Kanpur from September 19.

Recently, the Najmul Hossain Shanto-led Bangladesh thrashed Pakistan 2-0 in the two-match test series in Rawalpindi. This was Bangladesh’s first ever test series win over Pakistan.

Asian teams are accustomed to Asian wickets: Rishabh Pant

Rishabh Pant asserted that Asian team tend to do well in Asia because they are used to the conditions and pitches on offer.

“Asian countries like Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka perform well in Asian conditions because they are accustomed to the wickets,” Pant was quoted as saying by The Hindu.

Pant further said that the focus of the Indian cricket team is to improve their performance and give 100 percent against every opposition. The wicket-keeper batter added that pressure is always there whenever there is an international match.

“As the Indian cricket team, we focus solely on our own standards and how we can improve. Regardless of the opposition, we strive to play with the same intensity and give our 100 percent every single day. Pressure will always be there because in international cricket, you can’t take any series lightly. The margin between winning and losing is very small, and nowadays, the gap between international teams isn’t much either,” he added.

Important to play domestic cricket: Rishabh Pant

The 26-year-old Pant reflected on the importance of playing domestic cricket. The left-handed batter is currently taking part in the Duleep Trophy 2024 tournament ahead of the action-packed international season.

“It is very important for us to play domestic cricket because as a cricketer, match practice is always very important,” Pant said.

In the ongoing India A vs India B match in Bengaluru, Pant failed to deliver with the bat in IND B’s first innings. The left-handed batter made seven runs and was dismissed by speedster Akash Deep.

The Indian cricket team have a busy test schedule lined up over the next five months. After the Bangladesh series, they will take on New Zealand in a three-match home series in October-November. After that, India will travel to Australia for the high-voltage five-match test series.
