Rohit Sharma becomes 4th batsman to score 6000 runs in the IPL
Rohit Sharma joins Virat Kohli, Shikhar Dhawan and David Warner in the elusive list.
After winning two in two, Mumbai Indians are looking to carry forward their form in the upcoming games as well. On Tuesday night in the IPL 2023, they are taking on Sunrisers Hyderabad at Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium in Hyderabad. Captain Rohit Sharma once again provided a decent start to MI with his opening partner Ishan Kishan. Rohit, in a 41 runs partnership with Kishan contributed 28 runs. Rohit in his short inning of 18 balls also completed a milestone in his IPL career. Rohit Sharma has completed his 6000 IPL runs in this game.
4th Batter to enter the elite list
MI Captain Rohit Sharma has become only the 4th batsman to score 6000 runs in the Indian Premier League. Rohit took 227 innings to touch the milestone. In his IPL he has scored 6014 runs in 227 innings at an average of 30.22 and a strike rate of 130.03. He also scored a century in the IPL, which came against Kolkata Knight Riders at his favourite venue Eden Gardens. Rohit Sharma is the third Indian batter to have scored 6000+ runs in the IPL. Virat Kohli, Shikhar Dhawan, and Rohit Sharma are three Indians along with David Warner who are on this elite list.
David Warner is the quickest to touch 6K
Among these four, David Warner is the quickest to score 6000 in IPL. Warner took 165 innings to touch the milestone. Virat Kohli is the quickest Indian to complete 6000 IPL. Kohli took 188 innings to score 6000 runs in the IPL. Before this season, only Kohli and Dhawan were part of the 6000+ club. Warner and Rohit have now come in to give them both great company. An active IPL player, MS Dhoni comes closer in the race with 5037 runs in his IPL career. No other batter has a chance to become 5th member of this list this season.
Mumbai Indians' top order had a tremendous start against Sunrisers Hyderabad. Hero of the KKR chase, Ishan Kishan once again was looking for big runs but he was caught by Aiden Markram at mid-on. Which ended his inning at 38 runs in 31 balls. Marco Jansen and T Natarajan have been successful bowlers for Sunrisers Hyderabad so far in the game.
