Rohit Sharma's batting has become almost faultless in test cricket, says Sanjay Manjrekar
Rohit Sharma had a poor season with the bat in the IPL 2023 and scored only 332 runs in 16 innings.
Captain Rohit Sharma’s form in the Indian Premier League has been a cause of concern for Team India’s point of view in the upcoming World Test Championship final at The Oval against Australia. Rohit has failed to get a decent start for Mumbai Indians in several IPL 2023 games. In most of the innings, Rohit failed to cross above the 10 runs mark and was out playing loose shots. Rohit as a captain has a huge role in his hand for the WTC final along with his young opening partner Shubman Gill. Yet, Former Indian batter Sanjay Manjrekar believes that Rohit’s performance in the IPL is nothing to worry about and his batting has become almost faultless in test cricket.
'Keep Rohit's IPL form aside'
According to Sanjay Manjrekar, for Rohit Sharma test cricket is the most exciting form of the game rather than limited-overs cricket. Talking to Star Network He said, “Keep his IPL form aside because he looked out of form in the last IPL as well… We saw the amazing batting he did in the first test against Australia. I believe the stage of career Rohit Sharma is in, Test Cricket seems to be the most exciting format for him just like it has always been for Virat Kohli”. He further added, “His batting has become almost faultless in Test cricket at the moment. There is just one problem… he has got out playing pull shot often”. Rohit has been a brilliant player of pull shot and added many runs with that shot.
In the IPL 2023, Rohit Sharma could only score 332 runs at an average of 20.75 and a strike rate of 132.80 for Mumbai Indians. Rohit Sharma was part of the World Test Championship final playing eleven against New Zealand in 2021. Rohit scored 64 runs in 2 innings for Team India. He opened the batting with Shubman Gill and had 62 runs partnership for the opening wicket in the first innings. New Zealand defeated India by 8 wickets and won the inaugural season of the World Test Championship. Rohit will now leading the India side against Australia.
