"Everything is fake": Rohit Sharma denies meeting with chief selector and coach for T20 World Cup

The BCCI has to announce the 15-member India squad for the T20 World Cup soon.
India captain Rohit Sharma has refuted media claims that he had a conversation with selection committee chairman Ajit Agarkar and head coach Rahul Dravid earlier this month about the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 selection, encouraging fans not to entertain speculation.
A renowned Indian daily had claimed a few days ago that Sharma, Dravid and Agarkar met in Mumbai for two hours to discuss two main topics: Hardik Pandya’s fitness and bowling, and Virat Kohli’s opening role for India.
With the BCCI scheduled to disclose India’s T20 World Cup roster sometime soon, each IPL game becomes even more important because there are simply too many candidates for restricted slots.
Until a month ago, there were also worries over Kohli’s status in the 15, with one report stating that he may simply fall behind in the pecking order.
Pandya, the all-rounder, has recently received a lot of negative attention. Not only has he not been well received by the fans, but the fact that he has not bowled in a few IPL games complicates his selection.
Everything is fake: Rohit Sharma on his alleged meeting with Rahul Dravid and Ajit Agarkar
A section of the media claimed on Wednesday that Rohit Sharma met with Ajit Agarkar and Rahul Dravid earlier in April to discuss several important selection matters. However, Sharma has categorically denied such reports.
“I haven’t met anyone. Ajit Agarkar is somewhere in Dubai playing golf and Rahul Dravid is actually watching his kids play in Bengaluru. He [Dravid] was in Mumbai but he got him [the son] to play on a red-soil wicket at CCI. That’s about it. We haven’t met, to be honest. I think in today’s day and age, unless you hear it from either myself or Rahul himself or Ajit himself or someone from BCCI coming and talking in front of the camera, everything is fake,” Rohit said on the Club Prairie Fire podcast.
