Watch: Rohit Sharma heartbreaking message after CWC 2023 loss
Rohit Sharma scored 597 runs in 11 innings in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023.
Team India suffered a crushing defeat against Australia at Narendra Modi Cricket Stadium, Ahmedabad in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 final last month. Despite a stellar run till the semi-final round, Indian team had to face a massive loss in the final match against Australia who won their sixth World Cup title. With an impressive run in the league round and semi-finals round, it looked like India would be ending their 10-years-long wait for an ICC title but it didn’t materialize.
Indian skipper Rohit Sharma was also very much disappointed with the way things ended in the World Cup 2023 after being a dominant side throughout the tournament. Rohit Sharma has now reflected on India’s World Cup performance and accepted that it was very hard to move on after the World Cup loss. He said that his family helped him a lot in moving on from the loss. Rohit also had a fantastic tournament with the bat in World Cup 2023.
Rohit Sharma opens up after the World Cup final loss
Indian skipper Rohit Sharma said he had no idea about how to move on from the loss. Rohit said, “I had no idea how to come back from this. In the first few days I didn’t know what to do, you know my family, my friends kept me going and kept things pretty light around me which was quite helpful.” He further added that it was not an easy loss to digest for him or anyone in the camp. Indian players were deeply disappointed with the World Cup final loss.
Rohit Sharma also explained that winning the 50-overs World Cup is the ultimate prize for anyone who plays the game. Rohit added, “I’ve always grown up watching the 50-over World Cup. To me, that was the ultimate prize, the 50-over World Cup. We’ve worked all these years, for that World Cup. And it is disappointing, right? If you don’t get through it, you don’t get what you want, what you’ve been looking for all this while, what you were dreaming of. You get disappointed.”
Rohit Sharma also appreciated the effort of the entire team and said he along with his side has received multiple applauds due to their performances apart from the World Cup final. Indian skipper said, “After the final, it was very hard to get back and start moving on, which is why I decided that I need to get my mind out of this. But then, wherever I was, I realized that people were coming up to me and they were appreciating everyone’s effort, and how well we played. I feel for all of them.”
