Meanwhile, the encounter saw Rohit Sharma winning the toss and choosing to bowl first. MI welcomed back Jofra Archer in their team, who had missed quite a few games due to a flair-up of injury in his elbow.

PBKS got off to a decent start with 65 runs in 6.4 overs for a loss of two wickets. Piyush Chawla had dismissed the dangerous Liam Livingstone for 10 runs, but then Sam Curran, Harpreet Singh Bhatia, and Jitesh Sharma demolished the MI bowling attack.

Harpreet Singh Bhatia made 41 in 28 balls with 4 fours and 2 sixes, and the captain Sam Curran made 55 in 29 balls with 4 sixes and 5 fours to his name.

However, the most impactful innings came from Jitesh Sharma who hammered 25 runs in 7 balls with 4 sixes to his name as Punjab Kings finished on 214/8 in 20 overs thanks to 96 runs in the last 5 overs.
