"Yeah, would love to" Indian skipper Rohit Sharma on playing test series against Pakistan

Due to political reasons, India and Pakistan compete only at ICC tournaments.
In 2007, Pakistan came up short in a closely contested bilateral test series against India. The series ended with a score of 1-0 in favour of India. However, bilateral cricket between the two countries came to an end with the 2012–13 series. Since then, matches have only been held at multi-nation events such as the Asia Cup and the ICC World Cup. Cricket fans from both sides are yearning for the exciting matches that usually happen during series between two countries
India has made it clear that it will not engage in any bilateral series with Pakistan until Pakistan ceases its support for cross-border terrorism. This unwavering stance clearly demonstrates the deep-rooted political animosity between the two neighbouring countries. It’s interesting how cricket has the power to bring people together.
Cricket fans are really missing the intense battles between their favourite players, now that bilateral series are a thing of the past. Over time, people have been hoping for a shift in attitude. But unfortunately, political factors continue to dictate the outcome of cricket diplomacy between Pakistan and India.
Rohit Sharma wants to be part of IND vs PAK bilateral series
India’s current all-format captain Rohit Sharma, a recent guest on the Club Prairie Fire podcast, expressed great enthusiasm for the potential of a bilateral test series against Pakistan. He emphasized how crucial it is to have intense cricket matches between the two teams. Sharma pointed out that they have already faced each other at ICC competitions, indicating that they are familiar with each other’s playing styles, despite the absence of a bilateral series.
“Yeah, I would love to. At the end of the day, we want to be in a contest and I think it will be a great contest between the two sides. We still play with them in ICC trophies, so it doesn’t really matter. It’s just pure cricket that I’m looking at. I’m not interested in anything else. It’s pure cricket, a game between bat and ball. It’ll be a great contest,” Rohit said responding to Michael Vaughan’s query on whether, as the Indian captain, he would want to play regularly against Pakistan outside of ICC tournaments.
