Arjun Tendulkar made his IPL debut for MI against KKR in IPL 2023 encounter in Mumbai.

Arjun Tendulkar, son of Sachin Tendulkar made his Indian Premier League (IPL) debut for Mumbai Indians (MI) and received his maiden MI cap from Rohit Sharma in their IPL 2023 match against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) on April 16, 2023 at the Wankhede Stadium.

Arjun was initially purchased by Mumbai Indians at the IPL 2021 auction for Rs. 20 lakhs and then bought in the IPL 2022 auction by MI as well, with Gujarat Titans being the only other team to make a bid for him. Prior to the mini-auction in December of last year, the Mumbai Indians decided to retain the 23-year-old left-arm all-rounder.

In the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy in 2021, Arjun Tendulkar made his domestic T20 debut for Mumbai, taking one for 34 in three overs. He did, however, relocate to Goa for the 2022–23 domestic campaign and recorded a century against Rajasthan on his Ranji Trophy debut.

He also had a good outing for Goa in limited-overs cricket as he was the team’s joint-leading wicket-taker in the Vijay Hazare Trophy, with eight wickets in seven matches at an average of 32.37. He took 0 wickets in seven matches at an economy rate of 5.69 in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy.

With his debut in the IPL for the Mumbai Indians, Arjun Tendulkar, and Sachin Tendulkar became the first father-son duo to play in the Indian Premier League.

He received his Mumbai Indians cap from MI regular captain Rohit Sharma, who is not playing in this match against KKR. An emotional Arjun Tendulkar was seen hugging Rohit Sharma after receiving his debut cap. Along with him, Duan Jansen, the twin brother of SRH’s Marco Jansen also made his IPL debut.

Rohit isn't leading the team today, having caught up with an illness related to his stomach. In Rohit's absence, Suryakumar Yadav was asked to captain Mumbai Indians against Kolkata Knight Riders.
