Rohit Sharma will be next seen in action during the white-ball tour of Australia, starting October 19.

Former India captain Rohit Sharma showed great respect to Shreyas Iyer’s trophy, which he had received during the 27th CEAT Cricket Rating Awards in Mumbai last week. This was Rohit’s first appearance at an award function since being replaced as India’s ODI captain by Shubman Gill, ahead of the Australia series.

Speaking on the sidelines of the event, Rohit stated that cricket is still his top priority, especially the forthcoming ODI series against Australia that begins on October 19.

“I love playing against them. I love going to Australia. It’s a very challenging country to play cricket in. People there love the game as well. Australia is a different challenge every time they have played against us. Having been there now several times, I do understand what to expect. Hopefully, we can go there and do what the Indian team is supposed to do and get the result in our favor,” Rohit Sharma said at the event.

Rohit Sharma knows that at 38, there will be fewer chances given to him, and with Yashasvi Jaiswal also being included in the India ODI team, the pressure is on Rohit to perform or perish as he moves towards his goal of playing in the 2027 ICC Cricket World Cup.

Meanwhile, in addition to his physical transformation, Rohit’s much slimmer and more fit appearance garnered attention. Specifically, his thoughtful gesture during the recent CEAT awards has gone viral.

Rohit appeared at ease as he chatted with his wife, Ritika Sajdeh, throughout the evening, sitting close to ODI vice-captain Shreyas Iyer. The young batter had previously appeared on stage to accept the CEAT JioStar Award, but rather than holding it or setting it on a table, he returned to his seat and placed the souvenir on the floor next to him.

Shortly later, Rohit noticed the trophy near Iyer’s feet. In a move that has now gained considerable praise on social media, the 38-year-old casually grabbed it up and placed it on a nearby table.
