SA20 2027: Full squads of all 6 teams
The SA20 2027 auction took place on October 7 at the Galleria in Sandton, Johannesburg.
On Wednesday, the auction for the fifth edition of the South Africa T20 League (SA20 2027) took place at the Galleria in Sandton, Johannesburg. A total of 789 players registered for the auction, and only 156 of them were shortlisted to go under the hammer.
Durban’s Super Giants and Paarl Royals had already finalised their 19-member squads before the auction. Meanwhile, Joburg Super Kings, MI Cape Town, Sunrisers Eastern Cape, and Pretoria Capitals had several slots to fill.
JSK (R20.6M) entered the auction with the highest purse value, followed by MICT (R9.35M), SEC (R3.6M), and PC (R1.475M). Eventually, all four franchises filled all the available slots. Now, all five teams will enter the final phase of their SA20 2027 preparations.
The fifth edition will kick off on January 17 with a game between SEC and PC at St. George’s Park, while the final will be played on February 21 in Cape Town.
Kieron Pollard moves to the Super Kings family; Jason Rowles becomes the costliest buy
Catch Every Update, Anytime, Anywhere
The SA20 2027 auction has surely changed the outlook of all the franchises. JSK had the largest purse and set out with a clear intention to acquire a select group of players. 18-year-old uncapped South African all-rounder Jason Rowles made history, becoming the most expensive player.
JSK spent R2.9 million to sign the uncapped star. He will be making his debut in the upcoming season. Faf du Plessis, who was released by JSK ahead of the auction, will once again wear their jersey.
The Super Kings franchise rebought him for R2.7 million, making him the second-costliest player at the auction. All-rounder Wiaan Mulder also secured a big deal; MICT bought him for R2.6 million.
However, the biggest news is that JSK picked Kieron Pollard. Pollard, who has been with the MI family across IPL, SA20, ILT20, and MLC, will now play against them for the Super Kings.
