CSK signed uncapped Indian batsman Sameer Rizvi in the IPL 2024 auction.

An IPL auction is always a career-changing platform for many cricketers. This event offers an incredible amount of money to the players. Over the years, the IPL auction has seen many unbelievable deals that have surprised many. Even in the IPL 2024 auction, it gave two of the most expensive players of all time. Mitchell Starc made history and became the costliest player ever.

He was signed by the Kolkata Knight Riders for a price of INR 24.75 crore, while his fellow countryman Pat Cummins begged for a deal of INR 20.5 crore. Some other players also fetched a massive amount. But the most interesting part is when an uncapped star gets the reward for his good performance. Just like UP’s batter Sameer Rizvi, who got a massive deal of INR 8.4 crore from the Chennai Super Kings in the IPL 2024 auction.

Who is Sameer Rizvi?

Hailing from Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, 20-year-old batsman Sameer Rizvi surprised everyone when three IPL franchises went after him. Sameer Rizvi was registered with a base price of INR 20 lakh. CSK started the bid, and the Gujarat Titans jumped into it. GT pulled out after the big crossed the 7-crore mark. But then, it was the Delhi Capitals that also came in.

After an intense bidding war, it was CSK who eventually acquired the 20-year-old for a price of INR 8.4 crore, making him the most expensive uncapped Indian player in the ongoing auction. Rizvi is known for his power-hitting middle-order batter. He ended the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy in 2023/24 as the highest run scorer for UP. Rizvi showed his full potential in the UP T20 League.

He scored two incredible tons for the Kanpur Superstars and scored 455 runs in nine matches in the UP T20 League earlier this year. Recently, he scored 277 runs in SMAT 2023-24 in just 7 innings at an average and strike rate of 69.25 and 139.89, respectively. The 20-year-old also earned a trial for three IPL franchises, including the Punjab Kings. He is surely a prospect for the future who can be one of the emerging players in the IPL 2024.
