Lamichhane was taken in custody on charges of raping a 17-year-old girl in the Kathmandu hotel in August 2022. The gravity of the situation was underscored by Lamichhane’s subsequent release on bond. The week-long hearing culminated with a decisive statement from Judge Shishir Raj Dhakal, asserting that the alleged victim was not a juvenile at the time of the reported rape in August 2022. The cricketer, apprehended on January 10, 2024, now awaits the court’s decision on the impending punishment.

Sandeep Lamichhane is a talented Nepalese cricketer who has made a mark on the international cricket scene as a leg-spin bowler. Born on August 2, 2000, in Syangja, Nepal, Lamichhane gained prominence for his exceptional bowling skills at a young age. One of his significant breakthroughs came in 2016, when he participated in the ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup, catching the attention of fans and experts alike. His performance in the tournament, where he finished as the second-highest wicket-taker, showcased his potential as a promising spin bowler.
Sandeep Lamichhane’s journey in professional cricket reached new heights when he became the first Nepalese player to be selected in the Indian Premier League (IPL).
