Sanju Samson played last game for India in January 2023 against Sri Lanka.

Team India are set to tour West Indies where they will play a multi-format series. Both teams will play two tests, three ODIs and five-match T20I series, which will start with the first test on July 12 in Windsor Park and commence with the fifth and final T20I on August 13 in Lauderhill. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is expected to announce the squad for three formats later this month.

Reports from Cricbuzz have claimed that the Indian Board is looking to give rest to the seniors and pick some new faces for the tour. This will be the first test series for India in the next World Test Championship cycle 2023/25, thus, we might not see many changes in the test squad. However, a source confirmed that Cheteshwar Pujara is likely to be dropped and Yashasvi Jaiswal to replace him. However, one another big name, who is expected to return to white-ball side is Sanju Samson.

Sanju Samson to make his comeback into India's white-ball squad after almost six months: Reports

The BCCI is planning to make changes in the white-ball squad. The three-match ODI series against West Indies will be an ideal preparation for the ODI World Cup to check the bench strength. RR skipper Sanju Samson is also likely to make his cut into the ODIs and T20Is. Samson played his last T20I game on January 3, 2023 against Sri Lanka, while his last ODI was against New Zealand in November 2022.

He sustained an injury and was out of the action. But he made a decent comeback in the IPL 2023 for his franchise. Sanju Samson scored 362 runs in 14 innings at an average of 30.16 and a strike rate of 153.38, with three half-centuries. He along with Ishan Kishan will be the wicket-keeping options in the team.

With no Rishabh Pant in the frame for at least 6 months more, India will look to have a settle wicket-keeping options, looking at the upcoming Asia Cup and ODI World Cup. Furthermore, Arshdeep Singh and Umran Malik are expected to get a place in white-ball team. Hardik Pandya is expected to lead the T20I team while for ODIs and Tests, Rohit Sharma is expected to lead the team.
