Sarfaraz Khan has been scoring runs in pile in days cricket rather than in white-ball cricket.

Sarfaraz Khan hammered a scintillating century in the ongoing inter-squad India match being played in Pretoria behind closed doors. Sarfaraz’s First Class average of 71.70 has not been enough to get him into the India Test team.

With a blistering century in the three-day India vs India ‘A’ practice match in Centurion, he has clearly made India captain Rohit Sharma take a note. Sarfaraz Khan now has a chance to impress selectors on the international scene as India A tours resume after a brief hiatus. While he did not previously have numbers on India A tours to back up his claims, he now does.

Despite hitting a tonne of runs in the Ranji Trophy over the last three seasons, selectors passed him over. And the IND against SA Test series was no exception.

Sarfaraz Khan’s century puts him in a good chance of making it into India’s Test side

He was only selected for India’s A side. He hit 68 in his lone innings against South Africa A in Potchefstroom. Now, the century against Jasprit Bumrah and in front of Rohit Sharma would boost his confidence ahead of the last tour game.

While the match is being played behind closed doors with media entry not allowed as India intends to keep their cards close to their chest, a video has been leaked on social media, showing Sarfaraz hammering the best of Indian bowlers.

He is seen playing breath-taking shots against the likes of Ravindra Jadeja, Harshit Rana, Navdeep Saini, Saurabh Kumar, and Vidwath Kaverappa.

According to reports, Shubman Gill also scored a hundred in the inter-squad game. Gill, who batted at No. 3 in the West Indies earlier this year, is expected to continue in that position as India prepare to move on from Cheteshwar Pujara.
